Partners
Pump Aid works with many partners both in the UK and internationally. We believe it is important to work with organisations that will compliment the work of Pump Aid. It is crucial to increase the reach and availability of Pump Aid skills to as many people as possible.
Partners in the field
Pump Aid works with many partners in the field and believes it is vital to do so in order to reach as many people as possible.
DFID
Pump Aid works in partnership with DFID (Department for International Development), a branch of the UK government which works in the field of international development. Two grants totalling £25,000 were enough for installation of Elephants Pumps at 50 rural schools plus other pumps in the nearby villages benefiting over 30,000 people. The partnership with DFID is helping Pump Aid to build its capacity in order to expand the Elephant Pump to new regions.
CAFOD/CARE
The international aid organisations CAFOD and CARE have called on Pump Aid to assist with their water and sanitation programme mainly in the dry province of Masvingo in Zimbabwe. By working with partners Pump Aid can in turn help more people.
Plan International
Plan International also continue to be a partner which provides Pump Aid with links to their country offices across Africa following the success of a joint Elephant Pump project in a number of Zimbabwean villages. This relationship has been excellent in reaching out to more communities and schools, enabling Pump Aid to provide more Elephant Pumps.
World Vision
World Vision is a well established organisation in the field. Pump Aid is developing a relationship with World Vision in Malawi following the success in Zimbabwe.
Microloan Foundation
Pump Aid is currently engaging with Microloan Foundation for possible partnership. Microloan Foundation is working in Malawi to support women in various businesses and irrigation farming. Microloan Foundation would like to partner with Pump Aid to provide the women’s groups with access to clean water. The Elephant Pumps installed will be used for small scale irrigation farming supporting nutrition gardens apart from provision of water for domestic purposes.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
UNDP is implementing a livelihood programme called the “Millennium village” in Mchinji and Zomba districts in Malawi. UNDP would like to partner with Pump Aid to improve access to safe and clean drinking water among the community members in these Millennium Villages. In order to kick start the project a Site Verification exercise was carried out. Currently Pump Aid and UNDP are working on modalities for programme rollout
Tree Africa
This relationship with Tree Africa is one of Pump Aid's most recent partnerships. Tree Africa is a programme of Environment Africa advocating for the sustainable use of plant and tree resources to improve the environment, to provide accessible sources of food and to create livelihoods. Once an Elephant Toilet long drop is filled, a tree is planted on the long drop, providing nutrition.
