Thanks to donations throughout the 7-day campaign we exceeded our target, raising a total of £13,248, and funds are still rolling in after the Big Give officially closed. This was our Biggest Big Give Challenge yet and we were delighted to raise more than double our total raised in last year’s Big Give campaign. This funding includes the generous pledges which were kindly made by our key supporters and the Coles-Medlock Foundation. Without their support, we could not have taken part in such an ambitious challenge.
As a reminder, the funds from this challenge will provide a pre-school and the wider community in Malawi with access to safe water. With water close at hand, the school can establish kitchen gardens and improve nutrition for the children. This means that children will miss less school and learn more, parents will be able to spend more time earning a living and families can access water, grow food and live healthier for longer.
The funds will also go towards training care givers and parents and provide tailored teaching materials to implement robust hygiene behaviour change education for years to come.
Here is a short clip taken from a visit to a previously supported pre-school in November 2017 to show the children happier, healthier and learning with their friends:
